Media technologies are at the core of the globalization process. While they generate global relations, they may also sustain local development. Global Media Studies are a matter of understanding, explaining, evaluating, and in various ways make use of this double potential. If you want to work internationally or with an international orientation as an information officer, a system developer, a market analyst, a cultural creator, or conduct academic research at the PhD level, deeper knowledge of the globalization process is essential. Both technical and cultural reflexivity is required if you want to meet the challenges of a shrinking and increasingly complex world. The Master’s programme provides Master-level courses in either Media and Communication Studies or Information Systems, combined with joint profile courses in Global Media Studies, focusing upon areas such as cultural industries, ICT for development, and global media policy. It is also designed to enable specialized studies within individual areas of interest.
